Mysteria Campaign

MYSTERIA, by Native Instruments, is a one-of-a-kind cinematic instrument that harnesses the human voice’s unique ability to convey emotion. Lauren Steel, alongside styling the dancers clothes, was also requested to take the 3-D rendered masks used within the Mysteria application to create physical masks worn by the dancers performing in the campaign.

3-D Rendered Mask: As seen in the app.

Mid Process: Creating metal texture by oxidizing sheets of copper

Finished Masks worn by the dancers

Mid Process: Rust texture created by acrylic paint mixed with cinnamon, applied with a sponge. The first two glued pieces of the custom oxidized copper.

Mid Process: Creating the broken ‘brass metal’ from cut leather pieces painted in metallic paint. Using small black sponge pieces glued under the leather to create an effect of the ‘brass’ metal breaking apart.

3-D Rendered Mask: As seen in the app.

Mid Process: Testing crack texture techniques

Costume Reference: The original costume styling approach - due to the dark lighting the mesh top and bug like back shell was left out.
